CheersEmpties Getting small shops ready for the deposit return scheme
What CheersEmpties does
From 1 October 2027 shops charge a 20p deposit on single-use plastic bottles and cans and refund it when the empty comes back. CheersEmpties turns the official rules into plain English for small shops and gives you the tools to run returns day to day.
- Guides: the deposit, which containers, exemptions, registration and key dates, each linked to its official source.
- Ready Pack: a store manager pack, board pack, staff sheet and team briefing to print.
- Staff training: short videos with a quiz, so till staff know what to accept.
- Returns log: scan and log every empty, then check the scheme's count against yours.
What it costs (planned)
| Ready Pack, one-off | £29 per shop, or £99 multi-site |
|---|---|
| CheersEmpties Plus (returns log) | £9/month |
Payments are not switched on yet. Nothing is charged today.
