Privacy notice
At CheersEmpties we value your privacy. We collect as little as we can, and this page says exactly what that is, in plain English.
Last updated: 12 October 2026
In short: We collect as little as we can: no tracking cookies, no ads, and visit counts only through Cloudflare Web Analytics. Email sign-up is switched off. Email hello@cheersempties.co.uk about your data, or complain to the ICO.
Who we are
This website and the CheersEmpties shop app are run by CheersEmpties. For anything about your data, email hello@cheersempties.co.uk.
Register interest form
On our "See it in action" page you can register interest in CheersEmpties. CheersEmpties holds these answers. For anything about them, email privacy@cheersempties.co.uk.
- What we keep: your email address, your shop name if you give it, how many shops you have, your answers about price and what would make CheersEmpties worth paying for, and when you sent the form.
- What we don't keep: your IP address, your name, or anything about your browser. Abuse protection uses the short-lived scrambled count described below.
- Why: to email you once when access opens, and to decide prices. We don't send marketing, and we don't share or sell your answers.
- Lawful basis: your consent, given when you send the form. You can withdraw it at any time.
- How long: 12 months from when you send the form, then we delete it.
- Deleting it sooner: email privacy@cheersempties.co.uk from the address you used and we'll delete your entry.
Browsing this site
- Visit counts, without tracking. At CheersEmpties we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits to our pages. It's cookieless: it sets no cookies, builds no personal profiles and doesn't follow you to other sites. We only see totals, like how many people opened a page. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Hosting. Cloudflare runs our servers. Like any web server, it needs your IP address to send you pages. We don't keep a log of the pages you visit.
- Abuse protection. To stop people flooding our forms and lookups, we count requests for a short time. The count is stored against a scrambled one-way code made from your IP address (a salted hash), never the address itself.
- The checker works in your browser. If you look up a postcode, our server sends it to postcodes.io (a free service run by Ideal Postcodes) to find which nation it's in and whether it's urban or rural. We don't store the postcode or log it. Northern Ireland (BT) postcodes aren't sent anywhere.
- The scanner app keeps your returns on your own device. They only reach our server if a shop owner links that device to their account.
Email addresses
We're not collecting new email addresses yet. The waitlist, mailing list and pack purchases are switched off, and sign-in links only go to accounts we've already set up. When any of these opens, we'll update this notice first.
We don't send marketing email.
Shop app accounts
If we've set up an account for you, we store your email address and name, your shops, the staff you add and their training progress, the returns and bags you record, and the phones you link. We use these to run the app for you, and nothing else.
Signing in sets one cookie, __Host-ce_session. It keeps you signed in for up to 30 days, or until you sign out. It isn't used for anything else. Sign-in links work once, for 15 minutes.
The demo account uses made-up shops and made-up data.
Staff training progress
At CheersEmpties we keep training records as small as we can. For each staff member you add, we store a first name or initials only, never a surname or an email address. Against that, we record which training videos they started and finished, each quiz attempt with its score and whether it passed, and when each of these happened. It's all held under your shop account.
Who can see it: you, for your own shops only. Nobody signed in to another shop can see it. Our own admins see totals per shop, like how many videos were started and finished and the pass rate. They don't see staff names.
How long we keep it: while the staff member is on your account. When you remove them, we delete their training records. If you close your shop account, we delete its training records with it. To have a person's records deleted sooner, email hello@cheersempties.co.uk.
Feedback you send us
At CheersEmpties we read every message sent with the "Send feedback" button. You can only use it when you're signed in. We store what you write, the topic you pick, your rating if you give one, and the page you were on. We keep only the page's address, without anything after a "?" or "#", because that part can hold things like a postcode or a sign-in code. We link it to your shop account and your shop, so we can reply and fix things in the right place. We don't store your name, your email address, your IP address or which browser you use with it.
To stop the button being misused, we count how often feedback is sent from each connection. That count uses a scrambled (hashed) version of the IP address, never the address itself, and we delete it after a day.
Who can see it: our own admins, to read it and mark it handled. Nobody signed in to another shop can see it.
How long we keep it: while your account is open. If your account is deleted, your feedback is deleted with it. To have it deleted sooner, email hello@cheersempties.co.uk.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your card details. When a payment is complete, Stripe tells us the email address you paid with, what you bought and the amount, so we can give you your download. Purchases aren't open yet.
Who else handles data
- Cloudflare: hosting, our database, and cookieless visit counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics).
- Stripe: payments, when they open.
- postcodes.io: postcode lookups, as above.
We don't sell your details, and we don't share them with equipment suppliers or anyone else for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
Abuse-protection counts are deleted after a day. Sessions end after 30 days or when you sign out. We keep account and purchase records until you ask us to delete them, unless the law says we must keep purchase records for longer.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the details we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete them, ask us to limit or stop using them, or ask for them in a format you can take elsewhere. Email hello@cheersempties.co.uk. We'll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've used your details, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, phone 0303 123 1113.
